In my hobby beekeeping, beeswax accumulates throughout the year, which I use for crafting beeswax candles. It's important to note that I don't work with large quantities, but rather just a few kilograms.

The wax is obtained either during honey harvesting in the form of capping wax or as part of hive maintenance to ensure the health of my bees. The harvested wax undergoes multiple cleaning and slow cooling processes to separate impurities. After several clarification and filtration steps, I obtain clean and pure beeswax, which is used in the production of my candles.

I exclusively use 100% pure beeswax without any additives or dyes. I don't mix beeswax scents or use fragrance oils to intensify the aroma; my candles naturally emit the rich, classic scent of beeswax, especially when they are lit.

It's essential for me to maintain a natural and traditional approach to candle making to ensure a high-quality product.

As mentioned earlier, I work with a natural product and various wax types, leading to different color palettes during wax production. Each candle is, therefore, a unique piece, as diverse as nature itself.

Please keep in mind that I don't operate on a large-scale production, so there may be instances when certain items are not in stock. I produce when I have the time and ample beeswax available because it's my hobby!

Furthermore, I take care to store the candles adequately, allowing for a maturation process that results in better and slower burning, as suggested by the old beekeeper's wisdom.

Giving beeswax candles ample time to burn is also important. They should burn for several hours (at least 1 hour, depending on size and diameter) to ensure an even, slow burn.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look: Harvesting Pollen at Bartholomäberg

On a rainy day, there's nothing more soothing than the meditative work of cleaning bee pollen. While the bad weather rages outside, I dedicate myself to the careful harvest and processing of my organic bee pollen from Bartholomäberg in Montafon.

Unique Superfood from Montafon

My bees visit up to 100 different flowers to collect this precious pollen. The result is a unique superfood, rich in essential nutrients. The bee pollen contains a variety of vital vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, and antioxidants that are invaluable to the human body. These nutrients help strengthen the immune system, regulate metabolism, and promote overall well-being.

Careful Harvest and Meditative Cleaning

I place the highest value on quality and purity. The pollen is cleaned daily and harvested only on two days per week, with a seven-day waiting period in between, ensuring the bees have enough pollen for their brood.

The process begins with gentle drying at a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius to preserve all valuable nutrients. Then comes the meditative task: each pollen grain is sorted by hand and cleaned of foreign bodies using tweezers. All quality and food processing standards are strictly adhered to.

Exclusivity in Every Jar

The entire harvest amounts to only 185 grams, so I offer just two jars, each containing 50 grams of the finest pollen from Montafon. Each jar contains a pure and natural product that captures the essence of the pristine nature of Bartholomäberg.
